Day 1: Arrival in Moshi
Arrive at Kilimanjaro International Airport and transfer to your hotel in Moshi. You will meet your guides for a pre-climb briefing and equipment check.
Day 2: Londorossi Gate to Mti Mkubwa Camp (2,650m)
Your trek begins at Londorossi Gate, where you will register before starting your hike through the rainforest. The trail is rich with wildlife and offers a chance to spot colobus monkeys as you make your way to Mti Mkubwa Camp.
Day 3: Mti Mkubwa to Shira 1 Camp (3,610m)
Today’s hike takes you through the forest and into the heather zone. The trail offers expansive views of the Shira Plateau and Kibo Peak as you approach Shira 1 Camp.
Day 4: Shira 1 Camp to Shira 2 Camp (3,850m)
The day is relatively short, allowing you to take in the scenic beauty of the Shira Plateau. You’ll trek across the plateau, passing giant lobelias and groundsel, before reaching Shira 2 Camp.
Day 5: Shira 2 Camp to Barranco Camp (3,960m) via Lava Tower (4,630m)
Ascend to Lava Tower for acclimatization before descending into the Barranco Valley. This day is challenging but essential for acclimatization. You’ll camp in the scenic Barranco Valley, beneath the towering Barranco Wall.
Day 6: Barranco Camp to Karanga Camp (4,035m)
Begin your day by scaling the Barranco Wall, an exhilarating challenge that rewards you with breathtaking views. Afterward, descend into the Karanga Valley and up to Karanga Camp.
Day 7: Karanga Camp to Barafu Camp (4,640m)
A short but steep hike brings you to Barafu Camp, the base camp for your summit attempt. Spend the rest of the day resting and preparing for the midnight ascent.
Day 8: Summit Day – Barafu Camp to Uhuru Peak (5,895m) and Mweka Camp (3,100m)
At midnight, begin your summit climb. Trek through the cold, dark night to reach Stella Point and continue to Uhuru Peak, where you’ll watch the sunrise from the roof of Africa. Afterward, descend to Barafu for a rest before continuing to Mweka Camp.
Day 9: Mweka Camp to Moshi
Your final descent through the forest zone leads to Mweka Gate. After celebrating your achievement and receiving your certificate, you’ll be transferred back to Moshi for a well-deserved rest.
