4 Days Mt. Meru Trekking
The 4-Days Mount Meru Climbing offers an exciting and challenging adventure to the summit of Tanzania's second-highest peak. Located just outside Arusha National Park, Mount Meru provides stunning views of the surrounding landscape, including Mount Kilimanjaro. The trek offers a mix of lush forests, alpine meadows, and volcanic craters, along with incredible wildlife sightings in the national park. After reaching the summit, you descend to Miriakamba Hut and then back to Momella Gate on day four, completing the trek with a sense of accomplishment and awe-inspiring memories. The climb is ideal for those seeking a shorter, yet rewarding experience with an opportunity for acclimatization before Trekking Kilimanjaro.
Day to Day Itinerary
Day 1: Arrival in Arusha
Upon arrival in Arusha, you will be greeted by the Classic Guides Expeditions team, who will provide a briefing about the trek and discuss the itinerary. You will then have time to rest and prepare for your upcoming adventure. You’ll stay in a comfortable hotel in Arusha overnight.
Day 2: Drive to Momella Gate and Trek to Miriakamba Hut
After breakfast, you will be driven to Momella Gate (1,500 meters), the starting point of your trek. The day’s hike will take you through a beautiful montane forest, offering sightings of wildlife such as giraffes, zebras, and various bird species. The trail ascends gradually as you head towards Miriakamba Hut (2,500 meters), which will take around 4-5 hours. Enjoy breathtaking views of Mount Meru and the surrounding landscape as you settle into your accommodation for the night.

- Elevation Gain: 1,000 meters
Day 3: Miriakamba Hut to Saddle Hut
After breakfast, you will continue your trek from Miriakamba Hut to Saddle Hut (3,500 meters), which will take around 3-4 hours. The trail ascends through a forested area, transitioning into more open moorland and alpine vegetation as you near the saddle between Mount Meru and its crater. Saddle Hut offers stunning views of the crater and the summit, providing an ideal spot for acclimatization and rest. You will spend the night here in preparation for the summit attempt.

Day 4: Summit Day – Saddle Hut to Summit and Descend to Miriakamba Hut

Day 5: Descent to Momella Gate and Drive Back to Arusha
After breakfast at Miriakamba Hut, you will continue your descent through the forest to Momella Gate, which will take approximately 3-4 hours. Upon reaching the gate, you will be transferred back to Arusha, where you can celebrate your successful climb of Mount Meru.
